7.87 for www.myworldjournal.com - so close!
We’ve just had some new copy written for our web design site at www.prominentmedia.com (currently scoring 9.36) so I’ll upload that and let you know the results…

We’re currently testing 2 alternating versions (one long and one short) of our home page at www.thePurrCompany.com
The long one scored 6.41 the short one 6.16 - yay!
Obviously I’m pleased about that, but I have no idea what to do with this information :-s

Wait a minute - why is a low number so desirable? Surely it depends on who the target market of your website is? Our site, www.yogatravel.co.uk, gets an 11.3 - equivalent to the Guardian/ Indy, apparently, which is more or less our target market. Is small, therefore, more beautiful?

I guess because, if you’re trying to sell something (which we are) the more readable it is, the more likely visitors are to make the decision to buy.
I don’t have any hard data on this, but I would bet that a typical magazine advert has a very low score, in an attempt to be as clear as possible, which is also the aim of our front page. Other pages deeper in the site may be less readable, and depending on their content (FAQ, detailed directions) I’m quite happy about that.
