Best way is to not worry about what it looks / sounds like at the end. If it is to help get funding, you will re-read and re-work loads. If for yourself, as long as you can understand it and later on, use it to compare where you are against what you expected, that is all you need. I did one like this when I started up and found it really useful as a tool to guide my direction. The recent reworking is more sophisticated but was done in a similar way.
